The Power of Love

When we are fearful we protect ourselves by hiding our human vulnerability;  our flaws, fears, and imperfections.  We expect negative reactions from others and in turn protect ourselves from ever being truly seen.  Fear begets more fear,  fear blocks authentic connection and results in more protection, and more protection limits the ability to give and receive love and leaves us alone and lonely.

Love, on the other hand, invites us to be open, to be seen in our human imperfections.  Love   requires the willingness to risk being hurt again and in turn offers the possibility of an authentic connection, a sharing of our human imperfections, and safe place to reveal our vulnerability.  Therefore, it could be said that love begets love and fear begets fear.

Which one will you choose?
